In 1894 Niels Magnus Bugge and O.P Olsen founded the company Bugge & Olsen AS.
The company owned several sail ships and later also a considerable amount of steamships.The main activity was freight of timber and ice blocks to ports on the Continent.
The company P.A Johannessen was founded in 1856 and the main activity was to handle dispatch of coast vessels in Larvik Port.
Both companies had the same administration for many years before they merged to one company, Bugge & Olsen AS.
Bugge & Olsen AS became a subsidiary of the Hoyergruppen AS in 2003. 

Bugge & Olsen AS has over its 100 years of experience been an important participant in developing the port of Larvik as well as the industry and the ship owner`s interests has been looked after.

From the beginning of container ships tarnished Larvik port in the 70`s we have been a
part of building up the container traffic through Larvik port to a considerable level.
